Geoffrey Grier

My arrival to California in 1970 from Detroit was an eye opening Experience. After surviving the Detroit riot I walked into San Francisco's Chinatown and began training in Tibetan White Crane Gung Fu. (1974) My training has taken me to the far reaches of Asia and allowed me to train in the company of true masters. I have been imparted with a traditional system of martial arts only few are familiar with. I finished college with a BA in Psychology (1977).

In 1998 I added therapeutic theater to my skill set and became the Director of Crisis Intervention for San Francisco Recovery Theatre, which provides out reach to a large client base including extended family members with recovery alternatives. The inclusion of community intervention along with client intervention was an important breakthrough in the treatment modality. Using culturally specific drama, established a dialogue with otherwise incommunicative social subgroups and individuals.
